I’m a fiction writer and educator from the American West.
I was born in Southern Utah, among epic landscapes and complex histories that continue to shape my life and work. After finishing degrees at Yale University and Bank Street College of Education, I spent seven years as an elementary school teacher, developing project-based curriculum and excessive enthusiasm for fractions, before earning my MFA from Johns Hopkins University. These days, I live and teach in Oakland, CA, and am working on a novel and a short story collection. You can find my fiction in Gulf Coast, New Ohio Review and The Masters Review.
